A bathroom fan that's loud, weak, or dead lets moisture sit — and moisture is what grows mold, peels paint, and rots trim. The Toolbox Pro connects you with a vetted, insured local pro who installs or replaces bathroom exhaust fans starting at $135, most in a single 60–90 minute visit. You get a flat-rate price before you book.
What we install
- Standard swap — replace an old fan with a new one on the existing vent and wiring. Quiet, upgraded airflow. $135.
- Quiet models — Panasonic WhisperCeiling, Broan, Delta BreezSignature (0.3–1.5 sones). You barely hear them run.
- Fan + light or fan/light/heater combos — one unit, one switch group. Priced on the model.
- Humidity-sensing fans — turn on by themselves when the shower steams up, off when it clears.
- New installs where none exists — cut in the housing, run duct to an exterior wall/roof cap, tie into power. Higher end of the range depending on venting/wiring, up to $250.
Sizing it right (CFM)
A fan that's too small never clears the steam. The rule of thumb: 1 CFM per square foot for a standard bathroom (a 50 sq ft bath wants ~50 CFM; an 80 sq ft bath ~80 CFM), and size up for tall ceilings or an enclosed toilet/shower. Your pro confirms the right unit for your room before installing.
Vented outside — always
A bathroom fan must exhaust to the outdoors through a roof cap, soffit vent, or wall cap — never just into the attic, where the moisture it removes becomes someone else's mold problem. If your existing fan dumps into the attic, the pro re-routes the duct to an exterior vent as part of the job.
Do you need an electrician?
For a like-for-like replacement on existing wiring, this is handyman work — no licensed electrician needed. Running a brand-new circuit from the panel is licensed electrical work in most states; if your install needs that, your pro will tell you up front and we route a licensed electrician instead of guessing.
